Very sweet, crisp red flesh. Bred in the early 1900's
Seed Count: 25
Germination: 4-10 days
Seed Depth: 1/2"
Full Sun
Sow Indoors: 3-4 weeks before last frost. Sowing into individual biodegradable pots reduces root damage when transplanting. Transplant after last frost, 36-48" apart.
Sow Outdoors: After last frost when soil temperature is over 70ºF.
Harvest: When the closest tendril to the stem dries, there is a crack in the stem that attaches the watermelon to the vine. Knock on it and see if it sounds hollow
The skin should be dull, and slipping off the stem with slight pressure.
Tips: Plant in fertile soil, and keep well watered. They will do best when using row covers for weed & insect control.
