Squash - Summer Golden Zucchini

Yellow zucchini tastes very similar to green zucchini, but with a slightly sweeter flavor profile; it has a mild, slightly sweet taste, often described as similar to summer squash, and can be used in the same culinary applications as green zucchini.

To grow golden yellow zucchini, plant seeds directly in the garden after the last frost in well-drained, fertile soil with full sun exposure, spacing plants about 2 feet apart; ensure soil temperature is at least 70°F, sow seeds 1 inch deep, and thin to one strong seedling per hill once they have a few leaves; water regularly, keeping the soil moist but not soggy, and harvest zucchini when they are young and tender, typically when they are 6-8 inches long; consider starting seeds indoors a few weeks before planting outdoors if your growing season is short.

Seed Count: 20

Timing: Start seeds indoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost.  Or, wait until the danger of frost has passed and soil temperature is warm (around 70°F) to direct sow.

Soil preparation: Use fertile, well-drained soil, and consider adding compost or organic matter.

Seed sowing: When planting seeds directly in the garden, plant 1 inch deep, and space 2-3 feet apart.

Thinning: Once seedlings emerge, thin to one strong plant per hill.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering.

Sunlight: Golden zucchini needs full sun to thrive.

Harvesting: Pick zucchini when they are young and tender, usually when they are 6-8 inches long.
