Lettuce - Flame Leaf

Flame lettuce is a rare, bright red, open-pollinated leaf lettuce with frilled leaves. It's easy to grow and matures early.

Seed starting: Start indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost if needed, or direct sow after last frost.

Germination: 7-14 Days

Thin: 10" Apart

Soil conditions: Use well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. 

Sunlight requirements: Full sun in cooler climates, partial shade in hot weather. 

Spacing: Space plants 10-12 inches apart. 

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering. 

Harvesting: Pick outer leaves as needed for a continuous harvest. 

Sow continuously for a constant supply of lettuce. Best grown in cooler weather. Plant in full sun or partial shade.

Succession planting: To ensure a continuous supply of lettuce, plant new seeds every few weeks. 

Roots are shallow, so they'll grow in containers only 5--6'' deep.
