The Pimento Sweet Pepper is a Chile, and a Cherry Pepper.


  • Mild flavor: Pimentos are known for their very mild, sweet taste and are among the lowest on the Scoville heat scale. 
  • Appearance: They are typically heart-shaped and red in color. 
  • Common use: Often found pickled and stuffed into olives. 
  • Paprika connection: When dried and ground, pimentos are a key component of paprika.

Start Indoors:

Start Indoors 6-8 weeks before your last spring frost date. Harden off the seedlings when they are 6-8 inches tall. Be sure to avoid planting hot and sweet peppers next to one other, so there is no cross-pollination.
