Basil - Genovese

Genovese is a classic sweet variety and one of the most full flavored basils with a rich aroma. Genovese is preferred in Italian cuisine due to having more of a savory note than the minty variety. The large 2" long, dark green leaves have a spicy sweet flavor and fragrance.

A perfect variety for containers!

The taste of Genovese basil has been described as having hints of mint and clove while at the same time being peppery and spicy.

Genovese basil has leaves that are slightly larger than sweet basil; further, they are flatter and come to a point.

They are excellent for pesto, caprese salad, and other dishes that require large, fresh basil leaves. In fact, Genovese basil uses are much the same as with any other sweet basil plant.
