Sunflower - Velvet Queen

A branching sunflower is a sunflower plant that produces multiple blooms or stems, rather than just one. Branching sunflowers are often used for gardens and decorations, and are a popular choice for cut flowers.  Seed Count: 3grams Approx. 90-100 seeds. Soil: Plant seeds in well-worked, fertile soil with good drainage.  Depth: Sow seeds about 1/2 inch deep.  Spacing: Space seeds 4 to 5 inches apart.  Watering: Keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate, which can take 5 to 12 days.  How to care for Sunlight: Chocolate Cherry sunflowers need full sun, 8 to 12 hours per day.  Fertilizing: Feed plants every 2 to 3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer.  Staking: Provide support for tall, branching plants with stakes or a trellis.  Weeding: Keep the soil weed-free.  Harvesting: Harvest for cut flowers when the flower buds are just showing color or fully open.  Uses  Velvet Queen Sunflowers are great for pollinator gardens or cut-flower production. They can also be used as a border planting around vegetable gardens.
