Celery Seeds- Golden Self Blanching

Celery seeds are slow to germinate. It can take up to 3 weeks for celery seed to germinate. Seeds should be started indoors 10 to 12 weeks before your last frost date and should be sown on the surface of your starter mix, as the seeds require light to germinate.

The surface of the soil should be kept evenly moist while waiting for the celery seeds to germinate. Celery seeds can tolerate a light frost and prefer cool weather, celery seedlings can be transplanted into the garden about 2 weeks prior to your last frost date.

Because celery plants have shallow roots and require consistent moisture in the soil, a regular watering schedule is very important. Celery that has inadequate amounts of water during the growing season may become bitter and more fibrous.

Celery stalks have an upright growth habit and will reach a height of about 30".
