Dragon's Tongue Wax beans are a unique and beautiful yellow pod bean with purple streaks.
The pods are juicy, tender and stringless. They have a nutty, sweet flavor that is perfect for pickling, steaming or sautéing. The purple streaks fade upon cooking, revealing a creamy yellow color.
The plants are a compact bush, that requires lots of water as well as full sun. Seeds should be sown outdoors after the final frost of the season, as they need 60 to 90 days to reach full maturity.
For fresh green beans, harvest pods individually when they are crisp enough to snap off of the vine. However, the beans inside will not have fully formed yet. If you desire a shelling bean, keep the pods on the plant for longer to allow them to dry and become less tender. This should take closer to 90 days.
