The foliage does not grow as tall as regular cosmos but has a feathery foliage.

Soil: Cosmos do not need amended soil, plant as is.
Seed Depth: Do not bury more than 1/4 inch. Seeds can be scattered and very lightly covered with soil.

Fertilizer: Cosmos thrive on poor soil, do not add fertilizer to the plants.
Harvesting: Deadheading is not necessary. Cosmos can be cut to be displayed indoors and this has the same effect as deadheading, and in turn would encourage more growth. Harvest when petals on the first flower are just opening, but not yet flattened.
