TIPS: Allow soil to dry between watering, as asparagus is highly susceptible to fungus and mold. Soak seeds 24 hours and sow indoors 2-3 months before last spring frost. Transplant into well worked soil after last frost. Backfill the soil gradually as seedlings grow.


The Mary Washington Heirloom Asparagus is the traditional variety which consists of both male and female stalks, and is resistant to rust fungi, which can harm other varieties of Asparagus. This variety produces long, deep green spears with pale purple tips.

Originally released and developed in 1919 for greater disease resistance.
